MU among top 200 European universities, excels in graduate employability
According to the latest QS Europe rankings, MU is among the top 16% of nearly a thousand European universities, ranking 156th overall.
Masaryk University is joining the international project AI-UpskillED (Upskilling for the Educational Technological Transformation), which aims to strengthen teachers’ competencies for the critical, ethical, and effective use of artificial intelligence in education. The project is supported under the Erasmus+ programme and responds to the rapid emergence of generative AI tools that are fundamentally transforming teaching, learning, and academic work.
The project is coordinated by the University of the Balearic Islands through the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation (IRIE). The consortium brings together partner institutions from Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, and Greece. The Czech Republic is represented in the project by Masaryk University, which has long been systematically developing a framework for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
MU’s involvement in the project builds on the university’s existing activities in the areas of teaching quality, digital transformation, and methodological support for teachers, including the work of the Working Group on AI in Education and the published recommendations on the use of generative AI. Masaryk University’s main tasks within the AI-UpskillED project include contributing to the analysis of teachers’ needs, co-developing a European framework of key AI-related competencies for education, and participating in the pilot testing of educational and methodological materials in practice.
An important part of MU’s contribution will also be the sharing of good practice and expert reflection on the impact of AI on the assessment of learning outcomes, student evaluation, and the changing roles of teachers. The project outputs will be applicable both at the institutional level and directly in teaching across study programmes.
The main outcome of the AI-UpskillED project will be a set of open educational and methodological resources for teachers in higher education, vocational education, and adult learning. Masaryk University plays a key role as the coordinator of the development of e-learning courses aimed at enhancing teachers’ competencies in the use of AI. These outputs are intended to support the responsible integration of artificial intelligence into teaching, strengthen teachers’ pedagogical and digital skills, and contribute to the development of high-quality, inclusive, and future-oriented education in the European context.
